Beware of Moving Company Scams

We’re kicking off May with National Moving Month & the start of the busy moving season. Whether you’re doing a local move to the next town over or to a whole other state like NH to MA, you need to be on the lookout for scam artists. There is an estimate of 3 million moves each year, 800,000 are performed by qualified movers. That’s a little more than 2 million moves handled by scam artists.

To ensure that you don’t become one of the 2 million during your next move, here are some tips for moving with a professional company.

  1. Move valued possessions with you. Things like jewelry, important papers or cash should be moved with you or separately. If you moved them separately, make sure you use a ship service like UPS so you can track your packages.
  2. Any agreements that you sign, make sure that they are read carefully & that you have your own copy. The most important copy to have is the bill of landing. This is the contract for the move & a receipt for your valuables.
  3. If you don’t understand something, ask a question!
  4. A trustworthy moving company, by law, must provide you federal information that will describe the moving procedure & your responsibilities during & after the move. They must also offer the total cost of insurance for your valuables.

If you have a move coming up & are in search of a reliable, honest company, look no more! Contact A-Z Express Movers, Inc at 603-893-5060 for any questions or information.
